Homework

Each Monday students will bring home their “home” folder with a weekly homework sheet enclosed.  This sheet will explain all the homework and events the students will have for the week.  It will also include information about what the students are learning so that you can understand and make connections to the homework that is given. In second grade, students should, on average, have about 20 minutes of homework each night.  It is my belief that homework not exceed this time frame and  that it should pertain to the learning being taught in class.  Please note that students may occasionally come home with a change to the days homework assignment.
If the nightly homework is NOT completed and turned in, students will receive a “homework” note to take home.  This note will inform you about which piece of homework was not completed.  Please sign and send the completed homework and note back to school the next day.  The H on your students C.H.A.M.P.S. card will also be crossed off.

At the start of the third quarter the students will be taught how to use an assignment notebook. They will take over responsibility of their homework assignments. A weekly homework sheet will then not come home for the remainder of the year.
